From the San Francisco Bay Area, Maxx Cabello Jr. has built a career around expressive guitar work, soulful vocals and songs that move freely through blues, rock, soul, funk and Latin jazz influences.
His musical roots run deep. Growing up around music, Cabello first played clarinet before taking up guitar as a teenager. Early guidance from a neighboring blues guitarist helped point him toward the instrument that would become central to his identity. Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana are among the influences he has cited, but the sound that emerged is distinctly his own.
Finding His Own Sound
Cabello's work is defined less by a single genre than by the way he brings several traditions together. His guitar playing can be hard-driving and energetic, while his vocals give the music a soulful center. Across releases including Heartbreaker, Love & War and Tattoos and Blues, that combination has become a signature.
From the Bay Area to Bigger Stages
Over the course of his career, Cabello has opened for or shared stages with an extraordinary range of artists, including B.B. King, Bunny Wailer, John Lee Hooker, Earth, Wind & Fire, Dickey Betts, Third Eye Blind, Otis Rush and Booker T. & the MG's.
His performance history reaches from Bay Area stages to venues and events farther afield. His EPK lists appearances at B.B. King's Blues Club in Hollywood and New York, the San Jose Jazz Festival, the Oakland Raiders halftime show, Mexico City and the British Virgin Islands.
The Performance Is the Point
For Cabello, the story ultimately comes back to the stage. His EPK emphasizes a dynamic live presence and a connection with audiences across festivals, clubs, fairs and private events. That live energy is also reflected in a collection of performance videos featuring appearances in Saratoga, Sacramento, San Jose, Reno and other locations.
